What do you do at your present job?

I am currently a Ph.D. student in anthropology at UCLA.

How did your education at UC Davis prepare you for your job?

During my time at UC Davis, I was an intern with Dr. Suad Joseph in her genealogy of media project. The experience taught me a lot about conducting anthropological research. After graduating, Dr. Joseph later connected me with faculty members at Birzeit University in Palestine where I interned with Dr. Lena Meari and Dr. Ala Alazzeh. These experiences led me to decide to pursue graduate school.

Are there any classes or programs you found particularly helpful?

I am particularly grateful for the internship opportunity with Dr. Joseph. Not only did she personally mentor me, she also fostered a critical learning environment among graduate student researchers, independent researchers, and student interns.
As a student who majored in ME/SA, I took a lot of classes in the language department and in comparative literature. I learned a lot from Dr. Noha Radwan especially in the realm of anti-colonial/post-colonial literature and critical Palestine studies.

What advice do you have for current students?

Be active, there are a lot of educational opportunities through ME/SA faculty. All you have to do is ask, and be willing to learn.
